Outward Bound.

"Outward Bound is an international, non-profit, independent, outdoor education organization with approximately 40 schools around the world and 200,000 participants per year" (Wikipedia). Outward bound uses adventure therapy for the benefit and advantage of it's differing programs. The above video talks a little bit about their objectives.

Mission statement of Outward Bound: “To inspire character development and self-discovery in people of all ages and walks of life through challenge and adventure, and to impel them to achieve more than they ever thought possible, to show compassion for others and to actively engage in creating a better world” ("Philosophy of Outward Bound").

Outward Bound is a good venue for individuals to get outside and learn about their intrapersonal worlds and interpersonal dynamics, improve self esteem, form and enhance relationships, and boost physical health with the use of nature as a medium for change, learning, and exercise.

Outdoor Recreation Club at Lawrence University

This video was done by students at Lawrence University to publicize their outdoor recreation club. It shows various types of people coming together to backpack through Canyonlands National Park. They work together as they come to different obstacles on the trail. They explain their excitement for the program with phrases like, "it's the best way after finals to spend a week being outside," "it's beautiful," and "I have met a lot of cool new people". The Lawrence University outdoor recreation club members talk about their program like it enhances their experience at the university, and helps relieve stress from their every day rituals in college.

Beautiful Landscapes.

Chris Sharma.

Chris Sharma is a professional rock climber. His passion for climbing has grown and he shares what climbing means to him in the following video.

He states the following: "Climbing is very creative and artistic," "it is about finding beautiful things in nature and interacting with them". He is inspired by climbs that are hard, spectacular and beautiful. He explains his fascination with climbing in a roundabout pattern. He finds a climb he is really motivated on, he celebrates when it is accomplished, and then he moves on to the next big thing.

The feeling of finishing a hard climb is extremely self-fulfilling because he/she has worked so hard to overcome it. Self esteem is boosted, and morale is high when a person reaches the top.

Outdoor activities, such as rock climbing, can be a great outlet for many people who love to set goals and accomplish them.
